About The Churn
Origins:
Several seasons ago a Midlander awoke just outside of the city of Ul’dah with nothing but some clothing. Lost and without memory of his past, this chapter of his life started with life on the streets. From begging to odd jobs, he did what he had to to survive. In the first few moons his life was rapidly changing, from aid given by strangers, to events happening around him that kept changing the rules of the game of life; Promises made, promises broken, a home lost, betrayal, just to name a few things.Forced to adapt over and over he eventually found some sort of stability in life. A steady place to live, some memories of the past returning, friends made… There was hope. Yet with the rules around him ever changing, he wasn’t afforded the luxury to sit back.A few seasons later life had stabilized for the Midlander, whom by now remembered his original name; Rûnthar. No more endless shitty job, no more uncertainty of where to live, there was some freedom in his life finally, freedom her used to never have to go back to where he came from.
Using his saved up gil and connections he started his Trading Company “The Churn”, And although an odd name for such a company, it didn’t take long for him to make name, after all, someone who promises being able to trade in anything and everything gil can and cannot buy is certainly alluring to various parties. Paired with building a reputation for quality deliveries and clear communication to clients, he now trades with both legal and illegal parties alike, as long as they understand he is just the middle man.Business started to boom, before long the first few hires came in to handle the regular deliveries, storerooms were set up in most major cities, and deals were struck with local companies for transport. And with his original goal now fulfilled, he set out to fulfill a dream instead, something he’s been eager to do ever since he was given all those chances in his past.Rûnthar purchased a decent plot of land in the Goblet that once held a factory. Construction started that same week, and within a moon the hard work was done. “The Churn” Trading company finally had it’s main warehouse, but more importantly to him was the new business. “The Churn” Fight club. A fight club might be an odd choice for a dream, but it’s not the club he is after, it’s what it can produce for him: A place to gather, A place to watch sports, a place to make new business contacts, and a place to give those in need a way to change the rules of their life. The essence of the name “The Churn”: Where the rules of the game change.

IC Hooks
Rumor has it there is a new fighting ring, offering bloody fights.
As an entrepreneur, you may have heard that a trading company has opened it’s new warehouse and is doing business from there.
Rumor has it you can get free booze here. Some even say there are drugs if you know who ask for them.
At the adventuring guilds you might have spotted a flyer, stating that a business based in The Goblet/Ul’dah is looking for hires, and to seek out a man named Rûnthar for more information. The keen eyed might notice some small text that the job could imply having to look away from time to time.
You may have found a flyer in Pearl Lane, boldly advertising the new fighting ring, stating there might be prizes for the winner of each fight. Additionally the smaller text hints at a refuge for those with no place to go.

Rules
OOC Venue Rules
Here are some rules to go by during your stay here. If you don’t agree with them, this venue is not for you.
This can be a dark place where even darker themes can be played out and discussed, meaning this place is not for the faint of heart. You might be exposed to these topics.
Your character can be a dick, but you shouldn't be. After all, this is a game and we're looking to tell amazing stories in it. Sure, you might have a disagreement with someone, but keep it civil. Be nice to each other out of character.
It is up to you to lay out your boundaries. People can't guess them, nor smell them. If a topic, be that IC or OOC, leads in directions that might make you feel uncomfortable it's up to you to either remove yourself from the situation, or let the other(s) know your limit.
Respect boundaries where possible. If someone shares their limits with you, respect them and work with them the best you can. Actively crossing them makes you a dick, and wouldn't you know, that points back to rule 2! Don't be one.
Actions of you character have consequences for your character, be prepared for them. They allow for cool stories and intense moments and reactions, making scenes feel all the more immersive. If you don't want to deal with the consequences, don't do the action, even more so if the reaction to what you do can lead to topic or responses that actively touch your boundaries. Be smart, use your head for this one.
If you have problems with someone OOCly, talk it out amongst yourselves away from the public eye. We're all adults here, so behave as such.
The venue is an IC location, during your visit (especially during opening hours) you're expected to be fully IC. If you're new and just want to take a peek, do so in character.
Additional notes:
Please be available when it's your turn to fight. You can find an overview of the upcoming fights in our Discord in the fighting ledger channel
Under specific circumstances you might be asked to leave the venue.
If this is for IC reasons: Keep it IC. If it's for OOC reasons: Don't make a fuss, or you wont be coming back.
Cage Fight Rules

Fights are done with what is commonly known as grindstone rules, with a few exceptions listed below. Here is a short summary of how it goes: both roll for initiative, highest starts with an emote, then rolls for attack. The other then rolls for defense, if the defending roll is lower the attacker scores a point. Either way the defender then emotes both their defensive actions, followed by their own attack, then rolls for it, followed by the other to then roll for defense, and so on. Till either fighter has 3 points and is declared the winner.
Respect each other, and each other's characters. Yes you may be powerful, but you're no god. Matches are based on scored points, not knock outs, be creative and play around the differences with characters.
Dirty fighting is very much allowed within the ring, hell, it's even encouraged to a certain extent. In that same context extreme injuries or even killing a character is not forbidden, HOWEVER, make sure to check this with your opponent beforehand in tells or something similar.
Furthermore, if someone is trying to inflict a serious injury on you and it is not something you want for your character, be smart on how you write the defensive emote; E.g. Someone ties to break your ribs by driving you into the cage with a ladder and you lost the roll, you could emote your character only partially got away and was hit in the shoulder instead. The scoring of the fight is tracked by the announcer, and their scoring is final. If it is somehow off, either by mistake or cheating, handle it IC.
